Chris Harrison
Our Musical Director is Chris Harrison, who has been working with Hackney Community Orchestra since 2017.
"We have been able to explore a wide range of music together, from different styles and cultures, and the orchestra has always been enthusiastic about taking on new challenges. My own working background has been mainly in music education, as a teacher, advisor, author and consultant. In this capacity I have worked to facilitate music making among people of all ages, and have organised many courses and performance events for young musicians and adults. I also perform regularly as a pianist, accompanist and singer-guitarist and have been involved with a number of bands and singing groups over the years. I have a strong belief in the importance of music-making in the community and to this end I set up a singing group and an instrumental group in my local area of Charlton. I see my work with HCO as continuing and building on this commitment".
